After making a goal-scoring comeback for Manchester United after missing six months due to ιnjury, Donny van de Beek has acknowledged that his future may not be with the club.
In his first match for the team since the victory over Bournemouth at Old Trafford in January, when he was stretchered off the field in tears after suffering a terrible knee ιnjury, Van de Beek scored a magnificent winner as United defeated Lyon 1-0 at Murrayfield.
The former Ajax midfielder, who is available for about £20 million, is one of the players manager Erik ten Hag would consider bids for in the summer. In order to revitalize his career, Van de Beek acknowledged he could have to leave United just three years after joining for £40 million, but he still intends to force his way back into Ten Hag’s plans.
After the victory in the preseason friendly, he remarked, “For now, it’s difficult to predict where my future lies. Yes, [he may stay], but everything is up in the air as I could also decide to leave. I’m pressing on while concentrating on getting as fit as I can.
“I realize every day that I’m glad to wear this shirt. Watch what transpires. Having played with the Cameroonian goalkeeper at Ajax, Van de Beek also stated that he had “high expectations” of Andre Onana, who is undergoing a physical ahead of a £47 million move to Old Trafford.
He stated, “He’s a great goalkeeper; I’ve played with him for many years.” He has a wonderful personality. My hopes are high since he is good with his feet and good on the line. He is a superb goalkeeper.
Van van Beek commented, “I know it is a friendly game but it is a massive moment and makes you realize how much you enjoy football,” upon his comeback from a protracted ιnjury layoff.
I’ve been training for a few weeks and am now playing my first minutes after a significant ιnjury. Despite being in good shape, I must continue to work hard in my training.
