Jamal Murray, a star player for the Denver Nuggets, could not have had a better season. After missing the whole 2021–22 season to heal from an ACL ιnjury, Murray came back with a rage and had one of his best seasons, which helped the Nuggets win the NBA title. He has proven himself to be one of the best players in the league, and now he has more awards to add to his list of accomplishments. Jamal Murray was given the Best Comeback Athlete Award at the ESPYs on Wednesday. A good way to end the year for a guy who didn’t show any signs of being hurt by his ACL ιnjury.
Jamal Murray may have won the ESPY for Best Comeback Athlete, but he did give a shout-out to another deserving winner at the show. Murray made a joke about Jon Jones, a mixed martial arts fighter who came back to the ring after three years off.
Murray, on the other hand, was a very worthy winner. He averaged 20.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 1.0 steals per game last season. He shot 45.4 percent from the field, 39.8 percent from three-point range, and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line. In the playoffs, he upped his game to 26.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 7.1 assists, and 1.5 steals. He shot 47.3 percent from the field, 39.6 percent from the three-point line, and 92.6 percent from the free-throw line.
Next season, the Nuggets will try to keep their championship, and Murray will be a big part of that.
