Nobody paid attention when Liverpool’s first signing under Arne Slot was made

Opinions on Liverpool’s transfer window have been split. Not signing anyone is seen by some as a show of strength, while others regard it as a portent of disaster.

On the first matchday in a whole new Premier League era, the Reds lined up in an entirely different era. At Portman Road, Arne Slot took over for Jurgen Klopp for the opening away match of the season against Ipswich Town, but otherwise, not much had changed. Still playing right back is Trent Alexander-Arnold. The game-winning goal still belongs to Mohamed Salah. For the Reds, it’s business as usual.

The rumors of a revolution persisted all summer long, but to no avail. A number of rumours have circulated around Darwin Nunez’s potential transfer, Salah’s alleged retirement plan to Saudi Arabia continues to rumble in the background, and a financially strapped Barcelona is enamored with Luis Diaz, who they might have sold to get the funds.Along with Salah, Alisson may still depart for Saudi Arabia. Virgil van Dijk, the leader of the defense, Alexander-Arnold, and the Egyptian King are all players whose contracts are coming to an end.

Liverpool has tried and tried to become involved in the market, but they have not been successful. While Anthony Gordon is well regarded by the Anfield hierarchy, Martin Zubimendi turned down a move to England after being offered the chance. Even though rumors about Giorgi Mamardashvili haven’t died down, Liverpool have finally made a move in the transfer market, long before the Georgian even writes a contract. The Reds have finalized a deal for Alvin Ayman, according to prolific transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, who posted on X (previously Twitter).

Earlier this year, the Mail reported that the club was interested in the Wolverhampton Wanderers star, who is 16 years old, and This Is Anfield confirmed that a deal for £1.5 million was being considered for the teenager. Whether or not he is part of their current first-team ambitions is anybody’s guess, but it’s obvious that Liverpool is still intent on signing top-tier talent even though they haven’t strengthened their starting eleven in a while.
