Anthony Gordon advised against the transfer to Liverpool, as Newcastle’s chief executive provided an update

Anthony Gordon should decline Liverpool’s interest this summer in order to remain at Newcastle United. Louis Saha, a former Manchester United striker, holds this perspective.

Prior to the profit and sustainability standards deadline last month, the former Everton winger was speculated to be returning to Merseyside. However, the Reds were unable to conclude negotiations due to the Magpies’ demand for a higher price and their insistence on including Jarell Quansah in a swap offer.

Despite Newcastle’s concerns that the England international would be distracted by interest from his hometown club, it has been suggested that Liverpool may attempt to test their resolve with a bid before the summer transfer window closes.

Having observed Gordon score 12 goals and contribute 10 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions last season, which earned him a spot in the England Euro 2024 squad as a recompense, Saha comprehends the reason for the high level of interest in the 23-year-old this summer.

Nevertheless, the Frenchman has cautioned the forward to remain at St James’ Park in order to avoid establishing a reputation as a player who frequently travels.

“I’m not surprised that there’s interest in him because he’s been showing the signs of a player that wants to develop as quickly as possible,” Saha indicated to Betfred.

“I do not believe that it is a suitable time for him to switch clubs, as it is not advisable to frequently switch clubs, and he has only been at St James’ Park for 18 months.”

“I would advise him to remain at Newcastle this summer.”
