Arsenal receive ‘crying and laughing’ news of Aubameyang joining Chelsea

Arsenal did not set the terms when selling Aubameyang to Barca and then coming here will have to receive not very happy news from this player.

Remember last season Arsenal’s leaders decided to get rid of Auba after the striker got into a dispute with coach Mikel Arteta to the extent that the club agreed to pay a salary of £ 7 million for the Gabon striker despite that he switched to playing in Barca’s shirt on a free transfer.

Now, the Catalan giants could make a fortune in just six months after Chelsea made a £15m bid for Aubameyang . Barca did not spend a dime to welcome Auba to join the team, not even paying the striker in 23 matches last season.

Arsenal will not receive a dime if Aubameyang joins Chelsea despite paying £7m salary to Barcelona last season. The Gunners have terminated Aubameyang’s £350,000-a-week contract, so the team cannot put any terms on the Gabon striker.

In the context that Barca signed Robert Lewandowski worth £ 42.5 million in the summer transfer window, it means that Auba is now only a second option at the Camp Nou. Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is also eager to reunite with his former student when he worked at Borussia Dortmund.

Aubameyang joined Barca in this winter transfer window from Arsenal, he quickly adapted to the style of coach Xavi and emerged to become the best striker of the Catalan giants. But the appearance of Lewandowski in this summer market has made Auba’s position at the Camp Nou more shaken than ever.

William Gallas puts pressure on Mikel Arteta

Despite winning on the opening day, William Gallas thinks Arsenal need to keep their form. He predicts that without breaking into the top 4, Mikel Arteta’s job may be lost.

Arteta needs to help Arsenal get into the top 4.

“Of course he’s going to be in trouble. Arteta was asked to be in the top four and he didn’t do it last season,” William Gallas told Genting Casino.

“If Arsenal don’t play in the Champions League next season there will be a lot of talk. They have to have a great season, maybe not win the Premier League, but definitely go to the Champions League.”

“They just bought new players. Everything is in the hands of Arteta and the players. It will be a big problem for everyone if they don’t do their job well to qualify for the Champions League,” Gallas said.

The last time they played in Europe’s most prestigious playground was in the 2016/17 season, where they were in the same group as Paris Saint-Germain, Ludogorets and Basel. That was the year they finished in 3rd place in the domestic league.

Unfortunately, it has been 5 years since that day, Arsenal could not maintain their strength. Last season, it seemed that they were sure to be in the top 4, but consecutive defeats at the end of the season made Arteta’s teachers and students “pop up”. This could be the reason that the Gunners Board has spent more than £110m so far this summer.
