As his injury rehabilitation continues, Alisson enjoys a change of scenery on his trip to Italy

In Tuesday night’s 4-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, Caoimhin Kelleher once again displayed remarkable play, including a late double save.

The fact that Liverpool is now without the world’s top goalkeeper does not negate Arne Slot’s desire for Alisson to return.

The 32-year-old has missed the Reds’ last six games since suffering a hamstring injury during the team’s 1-0 victory against Crystal Palace on October 5.However, it appears like Alisson is taking advantage of his time off rather than feeling sorry for himself.

Liverpool’s number one player enjoyed a vacation back to his old home with his spouse and three kids on Wednesday, as his wife, Natalia, shared a photo on Instagram from Rome.

Seeing Alisson happy and enjoying some quality time with his family is encouraging, and a change of environment will aid in his recuperation.

The Brazilian is being allowed time off to keep his mind fresh before his anticipated return, rather than being cooped up in the gym at the AXA Training Centre doing rehab and gym work.

Slot discussed Alisson’s condition in recent weeks and gave an update last month regarding when he might be able to return, stating:

“I expect Ali to return before Christmas because it feels like a long time before Christmas, but you never know.”

“Because setbacks are inevitable, it is always hard to predict how an injury will progress in the early stages. We can better answer that question in two or three weeks.”

Slot did go on to say that Liverpool must be “extremely cautious” with their number one player, but they must also be patient with him while they “look into” his dismal injury record.

Fortunately, Kelleher is demonstrating why he is the Premier League’s top backup goalie and easing the strain on Alisson’s comeback by once again being a superb understudy.

Without his teammate present, the Irishman has been almost flawless, and when Aston Villa visits Anfield on Saturday night, his impact will be crucial once more.

After the November international break, hopefully, Alisson will be ready to return.
