Barca and Real Madrid overwhelm the typical La Liga squad

La Liga just revealed that the average team for the 2022/23 season will have 15 players, 11 of whom will start and 4 of whom will be substitutes. Antoine Griezmann is the only player on the team of 11 La Liga stars this season who does not play for Barcelona or Real Madrid. The Frenchman has left his mark on 26 of Atletico Madrid’s goals in La Liga, including 13 goals and 13 assists. He is the best passer in the league.

The other 10 names in the typical squad are split evenly between the winners, Barcelona (Ter Stegen, Alejandro Balde, Pedri, Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde), and the second-place team, Real Madrid (Militao, Luka Modric, Federico Valverde, Vinicius, Benzema). It is easy to see that most of Barcelona’s chosen players are on defense.

This season, Xavi’s students have shown a tight and sure kick, and they have given up the fewest goals in the game (13) than any other team. On the other hand, all but Militao, who plays defense, are on the top line for Real Madrid. Karim Benzema has scored 17 goals, which is 4 less than the winner, Lewandowski. In the meantime, Vinicius is becoming the team’s most unique player.

Even though he is 37 years old, Luka Modric is still the heart of Real Madrid’s center. But Valverde’s place on a normal La Liga team has stirred up a lot of debate. The Uruguayan midfielder was an important part of Real Madrid’s middle, but at the end of the season, he wasn’t playing very well.

If Valverde is mentioned, many people find it hard to understand because Gavi and Frenkie de Jong are not there. De Jong had a great season when he switched positions with Sergio Busquets to play as a holding midfielder. This made up for the effect of the new La Liga champion’s play.
