Barca is angry with the club’s richest player

The Camp Nou team has a headache with the case of striker Martin Braithwaite, who is still determined not to leave the club in the summer transfer window of 2022.

Sport  revealed the Barca leadership was angry when Braithwaite did not want to liquidate the contract with the club this summer. The Catalan team is ready to wait until the end of the 2022 summer transfer window to unilaterally liquidate the player’s contract, in order to make it difficult for the Danish striker to find a new club.

Barca’s legal team also considers damages in unilaterally terminating the contract with Braithwaite. However, this is not easy because Braithwaite has 2 years left on his contract (duration until June 2024) and Barca could be entangled in litigation if unilaterally terminating the player’s contract.

Previously,  Mundo Deportivo  said that the 31-year-old star wanted Barca to pay off the remaining salary in the new contract to leave this summer. The spearhead Danish team receives a salary of about 4 million euros per season (after tax) at Camp Nou.

Braithwaite was not registered by coach Xavi Hernandez to play in the first round of La Liga 2022/23. Barca sent a message to the 31-year-old striker that he would not be able to play if he stayed at the club this season.

The tough measures taken by coach Xavi Hernandez and the Barca leadership for Braithwaite do not seem to work. The player still intends to leave the club only when receiving the remaining salary in the contract.

According to Forbes, Braithwaite is currently the richest Barca player. In terms of salary, the striker born in 1991 is only ranked 14th in the salary list of the stars of the club’s first team. Braithwaite’s wealth comes from his real estate business. The real estate company owned by the striker has a fortune of up to 181 million pounds ($250 million). In addition, the former Middlesbrough star is also in the fashion and restaurant business.

In addition to the case of Braithwaite, Barca are trying to push Samuel Umtiti or Memphis Depay to leave the club this summer. Umtiti’s case is quite similar to Braithwaite, while Depay is close to joining Juventus. Barca agreed to terminate the contract with the Dutch striker early so that he could move to the Italian club on a free basis.
