Benzema will thrive in the Super Cup game thanks to ‘special’ inspiration

The legacy Karim Benzema left at Real Madrid is unique. Although he has been a crucial member of the squad for almost ten years, his significance in the previous two seasons has been unmatched.

He has won the UEFA Champions League five times, four La Liga championships, three UEFA Super Cups, two Copa del Reys, and four Spanish Super Cups since joining the club in 2009.

However, the striker could experience something extraordinary on Wednesday. Karim Benzema’s first prize as the club captain will be Real Madrid’s UEFA Super Cup victory in Helsinki.

The departure of Marcelo means that the French star is now the team’s principal captain for the first time in his career, even if he frequently wore the captain’s armband in recent years.

He is just the third foreign captain of Real Madrid in the previous century, which is interesting because the club often reserves that honor for Spanish national teams or indigenous players.

The hiring of Benzema is not only just but also deserving. He repeatedly helped the Los Blancos squad out of danger, which was a major factor in their triumph last season.

The 34-year-old made 32 La Liga games, totaling 27 goals and 12 assists for the eventual winners. He also helped the team win the famous title for the fourteenth time in the Champions League by scoring another 15 goals and dishing out two assists.

No one was surprised when Karim Benzema was named the best player in the Champions League for the 2021-2022 season. That noble title seems to have been in his name right before Real Madrid beat Liverpool to win the title.

Although he did not score at the Stade de France, it is true that the Frenchman was a decisive factor in the round of 16, quarter-finals and semi-finals to eliminate PSG, Chelsea and Man City respectively. He scored a hat-trick against Paris Saint Germain at the Santiago Bernabeu to complete the comeback and send his side into the quarter-finals.

He also performed brilliantly against defending champions Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and scored his second hat-trick in two consecutive European games. He also played a key role in the second leg with a goal in extra time to send Real Madrid into the semi-finals.

On Wednesday night against Eintracht Frankfurt, Benzema is anticipated to get the start. In a crucial game, the captain will definitely try to take the initiative and make the difference.
