Chelsea require 3-4 more signings to win the championship

Alan Shearer, the legendary Chelsea manager, believes that the club still needs to add new players during the summer transfer window

After the 2021/22 season, the Blues’ roster underwent significant changes. They parted ways with the main duo of Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen due to contract expiration. After a disappointing season, Romelu Lukaku has been loaned back to Inter Milan.

Chelsea, on the other hand, has found suitable replacements. They recently added Raheem Sterling, Kalidou Koulibaly, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Marc Cucurella to their roster. Fans are hoping that coach Thomas Tuchel’s teachers and students will be able to challenge Liverpool and Manchester City in the championship race.

However, legend Alan Shearer believes that is insufficient: “Chelsea does not have the same dangerous offense as Manchester City and Liverpool. Last year’s tournament was a shambles for them, as was their £97 million striker Romelu Lukaku.

Lukaku has been loaned out. Although Raheem Sterling is a good signing and Carney Chukwuemeka is an intriguing prospect, I believe they still need three or four more signings to compete for the title.

Without a doubt, one of the positions they are lacking is a striker, and they only have three weeks before the transfer window closes.”

Barcelona hasn’t let go of Chelsea despite missing Azpilicueta.

Chelsea are relieved to have announced a contract extension with Cesar Azpilicueta in the face of Barcelona’s interest. This is a necessary victory for the London club, as they had previously been robbed of their transfer target by Barcelona and had Andreas Christensen come to the Nou Camp for free.

Barcelona may harbor resentment over the Azpilicueta case, but the Blaugrana has not given up on pursuing Chelsea. The Catalan giants are more determined to approach Marcos Alonso now that they are missing the former Marseille defender.

Alonso is still under contract with Chelsea, but he is not a fixture like Azpilicueta at the club. Chelsea has confirmed the successful signing of Marc Cucurella from Brighton. Chelsea agreed to let Alonso leave because Cucurella was ready to rotate the left wing corridor with Ben Chilwell.

Barcelona took advantage of the opportunity to sign a second player from Chelsea in the summer of 2022. Alonso is about to sign a 2-year + 1-year contract with the La Liga club, according to a Sport1 source. The agreement appears to be nearing completion, with Barcelona expected to pay the Premier League partner 10 million euros.

This summer, Alonso will become Barcelona’s sixth rookie. Alonso will compete for the left-back position in Catalonia with Jordi Alba. With the arrival of the 31-year-old defender, Alejandro Balde may be loaned out.
