Chelsea used ‘bait’ to entice new rookie

Chelsea has officially surpassed MU in the race to sign F. De Jong, thanks to a unique factor in the defense

Remember how the Blues officially entered the race to sign the Dutch midfielder with Manchester United last week? The Stamford Bridge team, on the other hand, does not appear to be serious about this deal.

Until today, Chelsea had made clear moves to secure De Jong’s services, specifically offering £ 59 million plus Marcos Alonso in exchange for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong. Chelsea is reportedly contacting the Camp Nou team urgently with an offer to replace the Spanish full-back in any transfer. Coach Tuchel also confirmed Alonso’s departure in the near future and left him out of Chelsea’s first Premier League match against Everton last Saturday.

According to the Mirror, Barcelona are also hoping to sign Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso this week, but the Catalan giants will need to take a pay cut in order to sign summer blockbusters such as Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Andreas Christensen, and Franck Kessie. Although Barcelona has stated that they want to keep De Jong, wages for the Dutch midfielder have not yet been paid, forcing the Camp Nou team to sell De Jong as soon as possible.

The fact that Chelsea used Alonso in exchange for De Jong is completely reasonable and more beneficial for the London team when the Spanish full-back is no longer at his peak, he is like a ‘burden’ of the Blues last season before performing poorly for a long time.

De Jong’s final match in the 2022 summer friendly with Barcelona was a 6-0 victory over Mexico Pumas UNAM in the Joan Gamper friendly cup final on August 8. Despite being on the bench, when he was introduced to the field, the 25-year-old midfielder played extremely well and scored in the final minutes of the game.

More than 70 days have passed since Manchester United attempted to reach an agreement with Barcelona. Frenkie de Jong is coach Erik ten Hag’s top transfer target. The Red Devils have agreed to pay a €75 million fee up front, with an additional €10 million for additional terms.

The issue is that Barcelona still owes De Jong 17 million euros in deferred wages. Not to mention, despite Barcelona’s willingness to forcefully reduce De Jong’s salary, the midfielder has no intention of leaving the Camp Nou.

Chelsea have also expressed their desire to acquire De Jong. President Joan Laporta, on the other hand, abruptly confirmed: “Frenkie is our player, and we want him to stay with us. De Jong, for one, wishes to remain.

We have a very strong midfield with De Jong and his teammates. He has offers, but we prefer that he stay.”

Coach Xavi Hernandez, on the other hand, stated the polar opposite of Laporta. According to the coach: “I have no idea what will happen to Frenkie. Anything is possible until August 31.

He is aware of my thoughts as well as the club’s wants and needs. Of course, I rely on him. De Jong is a fantastic player.”

As a result, De Jong’s future remains uncertain at this time.
