The Phoenix Suns’ number 35, which Durant also wears, was embroidered on the back of a brand new Chelsea home jersey.
In 2020, the Major League Soccer franchise Philadelphia Union will get funding from Durant’s investment venture, Thirty Five Ventures, which he co-founded with business partner Rich Kleiman. They backed the women’s squad NJ/NY Gotham FC a year ago as well.
Chelsea has played three games in America, with results of 5-0 wins against Wrexham and 4-3 victories over Brighton, and a 1-1 tie against Newcastle.
The tour will conclude with a game against Borussia Dortmund in Chicago after Mauricio Pochettino’s squad takes on Fulham.
Four new players—Nicolas Jackson, Christopher Nkunku, Diego Moreira, and Angelo Gabriel—have joined Chelsea this summer.
On August 13, the Blues will face Liverpool in the season opener of the Premier League.
