In the 1990 movie Rocky V, Sage played Robert, the son of Rocky Balboa. He died in July 2012 at the age of 36 from coronary artery disease.
The story of the sequel centers on Tommy Morrison’s character, Sage, who feels abandoned by his father as he trains teenage boxer Tommy Gunn.
In the streaming documentary, the 77-year-old actor shares a number of personal revelations, one of which is that, “unfortunately,” some of the Rocky V plot was lifted from their real relationship.
The film, which was written by Stallone, stars the late Burt Young and Talia Shire. Stallone stated that he would be inspired to place his characters in roles that he would have liked to be in.

The three-time Academy Award nominee stated, “I try to take something that actually is what I wish I had done in real life, but I wasn’t able to do that in reality.” “And so, a lot of that is true—I would do it theatrically and magically quite often.”
When the movie debuted in November 1990, Stallone had just finished a sizzling run of hits that spanned ten years, including several entries in the Rocky and Rambo franchises.
He said in the document, “Unfortunately, you put things before your family.” “And the consequences are extremely severe and drastic.”
Citing a sequence in Rocky V where he fights with his father, Sage recognized the idea of art mirroring life in an interview with People in 1996.
“You never spent time with me!” I yelled at that moment. It’s true that you never spent time with my mother, he remarked. “I was really saying that, looking into my father’s face.”
Sage claimed that things between him and his father “changed for the better” “after the film.”
“I managed to get a lot out,” he declared. We cried a couple of times. We’d go to any lengths for one another.

“I’m so glad he’s born because now I can live through your eyes,” says a phrase in the film. As seen in the documentary, Stallone stated at the premiere. Fathers look to their children for that, in my opinion. It is a continuation of a little immortality.
“You will always remember that you did something right as long as he is alive.” You sort of wish for that.
Stallone said on Good Morning America in August 2012 that he was going through a “very tough” time dealing with the ᴅᴇᴀᴛʜ of his son.
“You try to get through it, and hopefully time will heal, but it’s just something,” he added. That’s just a fact of life. Regaining your life and beginning to live it again is crucial, in my opinion. You could enter a spiral if not.

I believe if you feel comfortable enough, you start to communicate and before you realize it, the layers peel away and you start to share a lot of yourself that you were never meant to do. That was quite a surprise and a discovery.
“Sometimes those things are just covered away because people,” he continued. “I don’t think we ever shed our skin; I think it just gets thicker and thicker and thicker and thicker.” She lost her skin, he said, and lived a different life.
