When asked about his future with PSG after this season, the player who won the World Cup with France gave no firm commitments beyond this year in response to the question.
“Oh, no, I’m calm. This season, the only thing that will determine my success is whether I am able to win Ligue 1, and after that, we’ll see “Mbappe ʀᴇᴠᴇᴀʟᴇᴅ this information to the media after the game. “For now, I’m only going to talk about this particular season. To me, nothing else is of any importance. We are disappointed.”
Mbappe also complimented the level of his opponent and said that Bayern was a team that was better equipped to go all the way in European play. Mbappe’s comments came after Bayern won the Champions League.
“Bayern have a wonderful team, a great roster, they have a team that is built to win the Champions League,” Mbappe added. “I mentioned it at the outset of the season during the first press conference that we were going to do our best.
“Our maximum is this. Indeed, that is the case. We need to engage in some introspection and go back to the business of living, which is the Ligue 1 season.”
Mbappe’s coach at PSG, Christophe Galtier, concurred with his star player about how disheartening the nature of their loss was, but he argued that things may have turned out differently for his team, which is currently leading Ligue 1 in points.
Galtier referred to the situation as a major letdown. “That is something that must be dealt with and accepted by us. There’s a lot of disappointment in the dressing room.
“There seems to be a lot of irritation, but I can’t say for sure if there’s a lesson to be learnt here. That would have been different if we’d scored first, but we didn’t.”
Mbappe had an early chance for PSG, while Lionel Messi had a pair of good looks of his own in the 25th minute.
We missed a golden opportunity to score first,” Galtier lamented. We played well and thought we could compete with them in the first half, but we failed to capitalize on our opportunities.
Instead, Bayern scored first on a tap-in by Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting in the 61st minute, and then Serge Gnabry scored late to send Bayern into the semifinals.
It was a terrible opening goal for us to give up,” Galtier mentioned further. “Bayern did apply pressure, but it just means you can’t be too embarrassed to play the ball out of the back if you need to. If you do that, you’ll be able to keep up with them.” It is difficult to put up a good performance when you are already behind after the first hour.
The most recent European loss suffered by his squad increases the amount of pressure on Galtier, who has refused to speculate on his future with the club.
It’s a tough pill to swallow, but we have no choice but to do so. “My plans for the future are not something that can be discussed right now,” Galtier said. I am very motivated and excited to see the season through to its conclusion.
