The Los Angeles Dodgers are bringing back one of their former players ahead of the trade deadline.
According to several sources, the Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired utility player Enrique Hernandez in a trade with the Boston Red Sox.
Hernandez, 31, spent six seasons with the Dodgers from 2015 to 20 and was a member of their World Series-winning team in 2020. He was adored by Dodgers fans for his style of play and clutch hitting in the postseason. Hernandez hit a game-tying single home shot in Game 7 of the NLCS, and the Dodgers went on to win the game and the series.
Hernandez had just completed his third season with the Crimson Sox. Whereas he’s merely hitting. He has always been excellent against left-handed pitching, having struck out 222 batters in 86 games. Hernandez has mostly spent the season at shortstop, although he can also play second base and outfield.
The Dodgers started Tuesday with a 57-42 record and first place in the NL West. They’re hoping Hernandez can provide the same kind of postseason jolt that he provided three years ago.
