For about £35 million, the Senegalese forward left Liverpool and moved to Bayern Munich in the summer. Since then, in 23 games across various competitions, he has tallied 11 goals and four assists.
Sadly, Mane’s injury prevented him from competing in the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Senegal has advanced to the Round of 16 and will play England on Sunday without him.
Alexander-Arnold, a teammate from Liverpool, praised Mane in a pregame interview. Although he emphasized that it might be an advantage for England, he expressed his disappointment that the forward wasn’t at the competition.
He stated to talkSPORT:
“Sadio brings a completely different aspect to that (Senegal) side. I think he got top-three in the Ballon d’Or this year, that’s all that needs to be said. Someone who’s a world-class player and as bad as it sounds, it probably helps us that we’re not playing against him. That’s the level of player (he is).”
In 269 games for Liverpool, Mane contributed 49 assists and 120 goals. He contributed to their success in many competitions, including the UEFA Champions League and Premier League championships.
The forward for Bayern Munich also assisted Senegal in winning the AFCON championship and reaching the World Cup.
In the 2022 Ballon d’Or rankings, he came in second place to Karim Benzema.
