Caoimhin Kelleher, the goalkeeper for Liverpool, stated that he was “not 100 percent” sure he wanted to stay at Anfield this summer and reaffirmed his intention to go and compete to be a No 1 somewhere else.
Kelleher, 25, surprised a few supporters by choosing to remain at Liverpool for the summer, despite the fact that there was less interest than anticipated following a respectable season.
A late attempt to sign him was attempted by Nottingham Forest, but the lowball offer was turned down. Liverpool also acquired goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia for £29 million in an attempt to start preparing for Alisson Becker’s potential departure. Furthermore, Irishman Kelleher has recently stated that this summer’s events did not entirely determine his future.
Speaking ahead of Ireland’s Nations League match against Greece, Kelleher stated, “I think I’ve made it clear in the last few years that I want to go and be a No 1 and play week in, week out.” The team has also decided to bring in a new goalie, which, on the surface, clearly indicates that they have chosen to take a different approach.
“Over the past few seasons, I’ve made it clear that my goal is to become a No. 1,”From the outside looking in, it appears at times like maybe I made the decision 100% of the time, but maybe I wasn’t in control all the time.
