Helpless in the De Jong case, Man Utd found Barcelona’s number one striker

After days of futile negotiations with Frenkie de Jong, MU abruptly turned to one of Barcelona's best strikers at the time

It appears that Frenkie de Jong will not move to Manchester United because he has a major issue with the host club’s salary and bonus issues; the Dutch player himself does not want to move to Old Trafford to play because MU will not qualify for the Champions League this season. However, the Red Devils do not have to be too disappointed because they have been invited by Barcelona to meet with super striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

According to The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, Barcelona is having a big problem registering rookies for the new season, and the Catalan giants have to sell off some players to meet the requirements of La Liga’s player registration law, and Aubameyang was suddenly on Barca’s list of liquidation despite coach Xavi’s statements that the striker was not for sale.

The Camp Nou team is said to have given MU permission to sign the 33-year-old Gabonese striker. In the context of the Old Trafford team’s heavy attack crisis, signing a contract with Auba is absolutely necessary for MU. Cristiano Ronaldo, the team’s number one striker, is still uncertain, Anthony Martial is out with a serious injury, and the old Red Devils just parted ways with ‘archer’ Cavani this summer after a two-year stint. Despite his age of 33, the Gabonese striker will be an extremely valuable addition to the attack.

Chelsea was previously reported to be interested in Aubameyang, but the Blues have yet to make an official offer for the Barcelona striker. Former Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel had a close relationship with the Aubameyang family when he elevated him to one of the world’s best strikers. The appearance of Chelsea will be a significant challenge for MU because the Blues have a place in the Champions League next season while the Red Man does not.

Aubameyang joined Barcelona from Arsenal during the winter transfer window, quickly adapting to coach Xavi’s style and emerging as the Catalan giants’ best striker. However, the arrival of Lewandowski in the summer market has shaken Auba’s position at the Camp Nou more than ever.

However, with Barcelona’s successful recruitment of Robert Lewandowski, Aubameyang is unlikely to be the first choice, and they may even agree to sell him to free up his salary fund.

As a result, Manchester United is considering bringing in Aubameyang to bolster the striker’s quality. After numerous controversies, they are still unable to guarantee Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.

The Red Devils, however, are not the only club interested in the former Arsenal player. Chelsea has recently expressed a desire to bring Aubameyang back to the Premier League after losing Timo Werner to RB Leipzig.
