‘He’s just silky, among the best I’ve ever seen’: Declan Rice raves about Liverpool player

Declan Rice has spoken about his toughest opponents, claiming that Liverpool's Thiago is right up there with the best.

The West Ham midfielder returned to the Tubes and Ange Golf Life YouTube channel to discuss the best midfielders he’s ever faced. Of course, Rice has represented England and West Ham at the highest levels, and he acknowledges that there are so many options.

He did, however, take the time to mention Liverpool’s Thiago and praise the Spanish star for his performance.

“There are so many. Last season, I played against Thiago for Liverpool. He’s just so smooth. He simply goes at his own pace in the game. Thiago was “proper,” Rice said.

Rice also expresses his admiration for Tottenham midfielder Tanguy Ndombele in the video. The Frenchman has received a lot of criticism during his time at Tottenham, but Rice was impressed with him when he faced him against Lyon.

Of course, lauding Thiago is nothing new. In fact, Tony Cascarino only recently stated that he considered Thiago to be one of the best players in Premier League history. Rice’s viewpoint here appears to support that thought process.

Liverpool were just shown an £8.1m transfer bargain as Jürgen Klopp’s dilemma at Anfield is resolved

Liverpool fell 3-0 to Strasbourg at Anfield in the final match before the Premier League begins, their second heavy defeat of pre-season training.

Manchester United defeated Jürgen Klopp’s side 4-0 in the pre-season opener in Bangkok, in a game that was more balanced than the final score might suggest.

The same cannot be said about Strasbourg.

However, it should be noted that this was essentially Liverpool’s C side (to put it mildly). Given the club’s performance in the Community Shield the day before, it was inevitable that this would be a team heavy on youth and fringe players.

That was the case.

To be fair to the French team, they played some very good and enterprising football and deserved to win. The first half was especially impressive, before Liverpool showed some more impressive spells in the second half.

Adrien Thomasson, an attacking midfielder, was one of the game’s standout performers.

He scored after only four minutes, closing down Isaac Mabaya sharply and finishing with precision. The intense midfield pressure has become a personal trademark.

After James Milner was dispossessed of the ball in his own half, the Frenchman scored his third goal of the game. Thomasson was fed the ball from the right side just inside the Liverpool penalty box, and he made no mistake.

It capped off a very good performance from the Frenchman, and his performance, along with his stats, may make him someone Klopp should consider before the transfer window closes.

Klopp has already stated that the club will conduct no further business before the end of the transfer window. But that could all change if Alex Oxlade-injury Chamberlain’s proves to be serious. The manager has previously admitted that a significant setback could force Liverpool back into the market.

There’s no telling at present how long the England international is going to be out of action for, with Liverpool only calling it ‘serious’. It wouldn’t be out of the question for Klopp to ask for another midfielder as a stop-gap solution for the next few months of the season.
