Hот spots that will decide the Real Madrid vs. Eintracht Frankfurt game

Real Madrid's opening match of the new campaign is one day away as they prepare to play Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Super Cup.

The squad will try to take advantage of the possibility to win the first trophy of the year that comes with the game.

Carlo Ancelotti’s team will face a difficult test before they can experience the glory, though. The German team pulled off upset after upset to win the Europa League. They weren’t considered one of the favorites.

At the Helsinki Olympic Stadium, Ancelotti will have a fully functional team at his disposal. Overconfidence can be detrimental on the night, even though the squad should be confident in defeating the Bundesliga team.

1. Carlo Ancelotti’s unusual selection

The Real Madrid boss reportedly opposed deploying the new additions for the UEFA Super Cup last week, according to reports. Ancelotti made the odd but logical choice to want the same side who won the UCL to win the cup in Helsinki.

Although it is uncertain whether the choice is definitive, Antonio Rudiger and Aurelien Tchouameni may start the match against Eintracht Frankfurt on the bench.

Thus, Ferland Mendy will start at left back while David Alaba and Eder Militao will start in the center of defense. Casemiro will start at the center of the midfield, with the more seasoned Luka Modric and Toni Kroos positioned in front of him.

2. A fresh start for Karim Benzema

During his ten-year career with the team, Benzema has established himself as a genuine legend. Since he took over as the club’s leading goal scorer two seasons ago, his significance to the squad has increased dramatically.

Yet Benzema is in front of one of several fresh angles to investigate. The Frenchman was appointed the team’s initial captain when Marcelo left. It will be his first game as complete captain on Wednesday night, and potentially it will also be his first championship.

He has previously served as the captain on few occasions, although he was Marcelo or Sergio Ramos’ deputy.

The veteran will strive to maintain his high standards on a personal level. Benzema has a history of rising to the occasion and scoring goals when needed. He will undoubtedly be the center of attention when Real Madrid plays Glasner’s team.

3. Filip Kostic’s absence

Filip Kostic was by far Eintracht Frankfurt’s top player last year. The German club’s left midfielder, who was 29 years old, served as their main source of inventiveness.

Last season, he made 31 Bundesliga games, making four goals and nine assists for his team. He scored two goals and provided an assist at Camp Nou in the pivotal quarterfinal match against Barcelona to eliminate Xavi’s team.

However, the great midfielder will miss this week’s matchup with Real Madrid. The 29-year-signing old’s by Juventus is set to go, and it is already nearing completion.

Kostic was not included on Glasner’s Super Cup roster because of his impending move. This is obviously major news for Los Blancos since they will now play a team that is without its finest player.
