Ibrahima Konate, the Liverpool defender who left Ryan Gravenberch in stitches, seeks an explanation for why he was not named Man of the Match

After Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Wolves, and after defender Konate scored the game’s first goal, he and Gravenberch spoke to the press. Wolves’ Rayan Ait-Nouri scored the goal, and Mohamed Salah also scored. The defender was perplexed after the game as to why he did not receive the Man of the Match award; nonetheless, Arne Slot mercilessly told him that he was responsible for the goal conceded.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the coach speculated that the player may have forgotten as soon as we let in a goal. “That was the reason we conceded as he wasn’t there and it was avoidable.”Despite not having everything their way on Saturday, Liverpool still managed to secure a win that boosted their confidence. Their one-point lead over Manchester City puts them atop the Premier League.
