The sprawling Los Angeles mansion, once purchased by the billionaire reality star for $20 million in 2014, underwent renovations by Belgian designer Axel Vervoordt. Collaborating with her ex-husband Kanye West, they made several updates to the famously minimalist home. Following their split in 2021, Kardashian retained ownership of the property.
Step inside Kim Kardashian’s home.
The reality star’s house is infamous for its minimalistic design.
Their four young kids — North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm — have all grown up on the property, though their eldest daughter isn’t the biggest fan of the home.
“Every time I get into some kind of disagreement with my daughter North, she thinks this is a dig to me, and she’ll say, ‘Your house is so ugly. It’s all white. Who lives like this?’” Kardashian revealed during a “Mom Confessions” segment on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” in 2021.
Read on for everything you need to know about the house.
Minimalistic design
Guests enter through an empty foyer when they walk into the home.
Kardashian opted for a very simple design throughout the entire house — including its furnishings.
“Oh, my God. I run around the house with towels,” the Skims founder told Architectural Digest in January 2018, when asked how she keeps her cream house so clean.
“You do have to just take a deep breath and say, ‘OK, it’s going to happen. We decided to have lighter colors,’” she continued.
“Our last house that we just moved out of was all grays, which was a good test because we knew we were going to move into a lighter house.”
All of the finishings in the mansion are neutral-toned.
The “Kardashians” star noted that “everything in [her] house is really minimal” — and there’s a reason for it.
“I find that there’s so much chaos out in the world that once I come home, I want it to be really quiet and I want everything to feel calming,” she told Vogue during a February 2022 house tour.
After witnessing some of Vervoordt’s prior projects, he opted for the designer to conceptualize the residence.
“There’s so much chaos out in the world that once I come home, I want it to be really quiet,” she previously told Vogue.
“When I saw the kind of work he was doing, I thought, ‘This man could design Batman’s house.’ I had to work with him,” she revealed.
Through the years, the fashion icon has offered several glimpses of the home, including her empty foyer, long hallways and monochromatic finishings.
A chaotic playroom
The mother of four said she lets her kids run amok in their playroom.
One item stands out among the rest.
Kardashian disclosed that her children enjoy a spacious playroom, starkly contrasting the beige room just outside.
“You guys always say my house is so minimal — well, you guys haven’t seen my playroom,” she said in a February 2020 Instagram Live.
Christmas decorations
The “Kardashians” star ups the ante every year with unique Christmas decorations.
Trees usually line the length of her corridor throughout December.
The Skims founder often gives fans a glimpse at her holiday decor on social media.
Holidays rank high among Kardashian’s cherished occasions, prompting her to lavish attention on decorations.
With white hues dominating the house, the “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star chose to spray-paint her tree white and adorn it with white lights.
Her festive touches spill into the foyer, where she arranges a collection of abstract “trees” reminiscent of Whoville but entirely white, as she shared during a 2019 decor tour.
Security measures
Kardashian has full-time security staff in the sprawling home.
It’s no surprise Kardashian takes security very seriously.
The writer who profiled the mom of four for Vogue’s May 2019 cover story revealed some intriguing details about what measures were in place to keep Kardashian’s family safe.
“I had to pass through layers of Pentagon-level security and hesitated at their forbidding front door, which looks like it might be lowered over a moat, before deciding to walk around the side and enter through the garage like a normal person,” writer Jonathan Van Meter penned upon visiting her massive abode.
He noted there was a “security pod, manned 24 hours a day” in the garage as a precaution.
Unique bathroom design
The beauty mogul has also offered several glimpses inside her unique bathroom.
Her square-shaped tub — which “fits all of [her] kids“ — is concrete-colored with angular corners and sleek lines.
The reality star’s sinks are flat.
She also has a large, angular bath.
