Kim and Kanye split their $100m real estate portfolio in divorce settlement

They wed in 2014 in a Renaissance fort in Florence, Italy, quickly rose to prominence as a power couple in Calabasas and beyond, raising four children and amassing a number of opulent homes. The fa.med couple did, however, divorce in February of 2021 after their separation. According to a special reunion episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, the reality star claimed there wasn’t “one specific event that happened on either part” that caused the divorce.

An amicable breakup was anticipated—so uncommon in the world of celebrities—until Kanye started criticizing the Kardashian family and Kim’s new boyfriend, Pete Davidson, on social media. Kim has since ended her relationship with Davidson. Just weeks before a trial was scheduled for December 2022, Kimye finally negotiated a settlement in their divorce, according to sources of court paperwork filed in Los Angeles. With a prenuptial agreement in place, neither divorcee will be required to pay spousal support, and both will be responsible for paying their own obligations, claims Sky. We can’t stop hearing the lines from Kanye’s “Gold Digger” prenup.

West is expected to pay Kardashian $200,000 (£163k) every month in child support while they divide the cost of their children’s safety, private education, and university between them. Their official divorce filing is reportedly citing “irreconcilable disagreements.” The four children—North, nine; Saint, six; Chicago, four; and Psalm, three—will all have joint custody of their parents. Kim and the kids are still residing in the $60 million (£49 million) Hidden Hills house (more on that later). But not all conversations in the Yeezy world are amicable.

Although the former billionaire has a history of cutting a contentious figure, West’s recent extremism—which includes wearing a T-shirt with the slogan “Whi.te Lives M.atter” and recently saying “I like Hitl.er” in an Alex Jones interview—has caused large corporations like Adidas and other luxury brands to cut ties with the rapper. Ye said that after a video of him espousing anti.semitic sentiments went public and Adidas discontinued the fashion designer’s Yeezy line, he lost $2 billion (£1.6 billion) over night. Forbes estimates that the partnership with Adidas contributed $1.5 billion (£1.2 billion) to his net worth.

Although the pair has now broken up, Kanye’s emotional outbursts continued to torment Kim after she filed for divorce and moved on with her new lover, Pete Davidson. Ye began by publicly criticizing Kim’s new partner Pete as a way to vent his anger at her parenting choices, such as allowing North to have a TikTok account and insisting he wasn’t invited to their children’s birthday parties. According to reports, Kim called his criticisms “hur.tful” and charged that he made co-parenting “difficult at every turn.”

Kim remained at the couple’s Hidden Hills mega-mansion during the divorce proceedings since she was awarded sole possession of it. Spending an additional $20 million (£16.3 million) on substantial modifications to fit Kanye’s minimal design, the couple shelled out on the expansive house in 2014. After three years of work, the family eventually moved into their freshly remodeled home in December 2017 after leaving Kris Jenner’s house, which was conveniently located across the street.

The renovated estate, which sits on more than three acres of land, has amazing vines, old trees, and big lawns. Realtor claimed that Kanye owned the building itself and that Kim owned all the land the house is situated on. It’s a huge asset that Kim now owns outright and is valued at about $60 million (£49 million). The former couple collaborated with Belgian architect Axel Vervoodt on the new design of the refurbished property, which Kanye described as a “futuristic convent.”

Her sister Kourtney Kardashian’s and mother Kris Jenner’s residences are not far from the property. According to reports at the time, Kanye supported the new living arrangements while Kim wanted to remain in the house to spare her four children any hardship throughout the divorce. After the settlement, Kim reportedly received the right to keep the home that Kanye purchased next door in 2019 as well as houses in Malibu and an Idaho property.

Kanye is reportedly said to have been hiding away at his Los Angeles ranch, which he gets to keep as part of the property split, while Kim was with their kids in the Hidden Hills mega-mansion. In recent years, the rapper has used the house, which he purchased in 2018 for $2.2 million (£1.8 million), as a base and the headquarters for his Sunday Service. In 2019, Kanye built four inexpensive dome dwellings at the Calabasas residence in an effort to provide more accessible housing. However, because they didn’t adhere to building regulations, they were demolished in September of that year.
