Jordan Henderson Visits AXA Training Centre

Take a look at our pictures of Jordan Henderson visiting the AXA Training Centre, where he reunited with some of his former Liverpool teammates.

Henderson left Anfield in the summer of 2023 after an impressive 11-year tenure, during which he made nearly 500 appearances and secured seven major titles. He is now playing for Ajax.

This week, the former Reds captain stopped by the AXA Training Centre, where he received a warm welcome from both former teammates and current coaching staff.

“Super talent” is currently vying to take Andy Robertson’s place at Liverpool.

A young Liverpool star is making waves and could soon find himself in line to replace stalwart Andy Robertson. With Robertson increasingly sidelined due to injury and fitness issues, Kostas Tsimikas has stepped in effectively for the Reds this season. However, another promising academy talent on loan is making a strong case for the left-back position.

Owen Beck’s National Team Call-up

Owen Beck has received a call-up from former Liverpool forward Craig Bellamy for the senior Welsh national team, set to compete against Iceland and Montenegro in the Nations League. Fellow academy graduate Lewis Koumas has also been included, thanks to his impressive form on loan at Stoke.

Beck, currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers, has enjoyed a solid run of games, though his momentum was cut short after a red card against Preston North End, which stemmed from his reaction to being bitten by an opposing player.

Adding Youth to the Welsh Squad

Both Koumas and Beck are injecting much-needed youth into an aging Welsh squad, although results have improved since Bellamy took charge in July.

Can Beck Replace Robertson?

Whether Beck can displace Robertson will hinge on his performances for Blackburn this season. At just 22 years old, he is significantly younger than Liverpool’s current first-choice left-back, suggesting that he could step into that role sooner rather than later.

Described as a “super talent” by Jurgen Klopp, Beck has considerable potential. However, while Robertson is now in his 30s, it’s important to note that many players, like Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, continue to perform at a high level despite advancing age. Robertson still has the ability to maintain his form, but his growing injury and fitness concerns may open the door for Beck to gain first-team action as early as next season.
