Rookie striker Robert Lewandowski has not yet opened a goal account for Barcelona, but he has more than enough confidence when declaring that the Camp Nou team can win La Liga or the Champions League this season.
The 33-year-old Poland international was a key part of a big summer spend at Camp Nou, as more than 150 million euros were spent to bring in five key additions to coach Xavi Hernandez’s squad. President Joan Laporta has set his sights on bringing Barca back to the top, of course aiming for the biggest trophies. The last time Barca won a title was in 2021, but that was only the Copa del Rey. In La Liga, Barca has not been crowned since the last time with coach Ernesto Valverde in the 2018-2019 season, while the last time to win the Champions League was the 2014-2015 season.
Haven’t been able to score his debut yet, but Robert Lewandowski shows a lot of desire.
Barca started the La Liga season not as expected when they were drawn 0-0 by Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou. It is also a poignant reminder that football is not simply about signing good players with success. However, Lewandowski, who has scored 344 goals in 375 games in eight brilliant years at Bayern Munich, confidently declared in an interview with La Liga World: “I think Barcelona have not won the title for too long. Come on, I’m sure we’ll win the title.”
Lewandowski has had a rough start, however, the striker continues to insist he never doubted his decision to join Barca: “When I heard about Barcelona’s interest, I thought this was the time. perfect score for both sides – with me and with the club. In the Bundesliga, everything went well, it was a great experience for me, but I know it will be a step forward for my career when it comes to La Liga.”
On this Sunday, Barca will have a difficult trip to the Sociedad stadium – one of the 7 teams that have won in the opening round. Lewandowski certainly hopes to open an account at Anoeta Stadium.
