Liverpool could complete blockbuster signing soon ‘amid new talks’

A report claims that Liverpool could agree a deal to sign Jude Bellingham in the next few weeks.

Jurgen Klopp’s ideal midfield signing is the 19-year-old, and it’s easy to see why.

Since making his debut for Birmingham City in 2019, the Englishman has grown in stature and made a wise decision to join Borussia Dortmund and further his development. He could have joined Manchester United, and it would be a wonderful coincidence if he ended up playing for Liverpool.

He is now at a crossroads in his career and is ready to make the move to one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Liverpool could be that club as a report from Football Insider claims the Reds could reach an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign Bellingham within the next few weeks.

According to the report, talks about a possible move to Anfield in 2023 were set to take place this week.

If a deal is reached, he will most likely join Liverpool next summer, though Football Insider claims he could join as early as January.

If this is the case, Klopp will have his midfielder, but sporting director Julian Ward must insist on him arriving this summer.

Dortmund has a strict one-per-summer rule for selling their best players, and this is where Liverpool has hit a brick wall.

However, if Liverpool wants Bellingham badly enough, paying over the odds to persuade Dortmund to sell him this month is worthwhile if Klopp believes the midfielder can lead Liverpool to the Premier League title.

The unfortunate reality is that Liverpool’s midfield lacks the quality that Manchester City and Real Madrid can rely on.

To make matters worse, Klopp’s squad is littered with injury-prone players, and no amount of talent can overcome unfortunate genetics and bad luck.

Signing Bellingham would not only solve Liverpool’s mini-midfield crisis, but would also elevate the club’s squad to new heights.

Despite not signing a central midfielder so far, it’s undeniable that the Reds want to add to their engine room.

They were unsuccessful in signing Aurelien Tchouameni at the start of the window but Liverpool’s attempts at recruiting the Frenchman proves that Jurgen Klopp also sees his midfield depth as a worry.

With Curtis Jones out for 2-4 weeks and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out for between 2-3 months, the cracks are already appearing in midfield.

An injury to one of Thiago or Naby Keita would put Jurgen Klopp in an extremely tricky situation.
