Liverpool’s main striker is absent from the training ground

In the latest training session, both Liverpool’s main strikers, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota were absent. Anfield is an easy and difficult field for the visitors this season. In the Premier League since the beginning of the season, only Leeds has left this place with 3 full points. In the last match with home advantage, Liverpool destroyed Man Utd with a score of 7-0.

However, this weekend, they will face a challenge that will not be easy. Although Arsenal has not had a good record at Anfield over the past decade, the Gunners are leading the Premier League, with an eight-point gap over Man City. Arsenal is getting closer to the title and has been in terrible form throughout the season.

After a 0-0 draw at Chelsea earlier in the week, Liverpool is now 10 points behind the top 4 and must win almost every remaining match to have any hope of qualifying for the Champions League.

The Reds uploaded photos of Thursday’s workout at the AXA Training Center. However, Mo Salah was one of three players who were not on the field. In the recent heroic match with Chelsea, the Egyptian striker only came on from the bench.

Obviously, there are concerns about the health of the two main strikers on The Kop side. Salah has scored 23 goals for Liverpool this season. However, between now and Sunday there is still time for the duo to recover.

Meanwhile, Diogo Jota and Joe Gomez were also not seen after both came out at Stamford Bridge. It’s been almost a year since Jota last scored for the Reds, although he has struggled with a serious calf ɪɴᴊᴜʀʏ in that time.

However, Thiago Alcantara is back with his teammates after being sidelined since February with a hip ɪɴᴊᴜʀʏ. Liverpool will be hoping the midfielder can at least feature on the bench.

Luis Diaz continues to return from a knee ɪɴᴊᴜʀʏ. The Colombian player was injured in the match against Arsenal in October 2022, then had to go to the operating table and completely recovered. Klopp has not ruled out the possibility that the winger will be involved in the match against Arsenal although it is likely he will not feature until the match against Leeds on Monday 17 April.

Virgil van Dijk has also been training after being forced to miss the Chelsea game due to illness.

Naby Keita was spotted running with a member of the defenders’ squad, who picked up a muscle ɪɴᴊᴜʀʏ while on international duty with Guinea.

Notably, Liverpool has just welcomed the return of midfielder Thiago Alcantara after a long break due to ɪɴᴊᴜʀʏ. Thiago Alcantara’s last appearance for Liverpool was in a 0-3 defeat at Wolves on February 4. Since then, the Spaniard has missed a total of 10 matches of The Kop. The Red Brigade only won 4 matches, drew 2, and lost 4 in these 10 confrontations.

After 2 months of convalescence, Thiago has just reappeared at the last training session of Liverpool. The former Bayern Munich player is expected to help The Kop dominate the middle in the great ᴡᴀʀ against Arsenal on April 9, something they have not been able to do in a series of past matches.

Currently, Liverpool still has Stefan Bajcetic and Naby Keita injured. Meanwhile, Fabinho, Chamberlain, Elliott, and Curtis Jones did not play really well, so the return of Thiago will help coach Klopp has more options in the midfield.

Liverpool is currently ranked 8th in the Premier League table with only 43 points after 28 matches, 10 points behind MU’s 4th place. If they cannot win the maximum points in the remaining matches, it is very difficult for Liverpool to finish the season in the top 4.
