Lynn’s home run and Barnes’ HR extend the Dodgers’ winning streak to 11 games

What a difference a few weeks can make.

It was almost time to panic for the Dodgers’ rotation at the end of July. The starting pitching staff, which has been a strength for the Dodgers throughout the last decade of supremacy, concluded July with a 6.18 ERA, the lowest mark in a month with at least 15 games since the club relocated to Los Angeles more than six decades ago.

However, it’s been a very different tale through 16 games in August. The Dodgers’ domination this month continued on Thursday with a 1-0 win over the Brewers at Dodger Stadium, extending their winning run to a season-high 11 games behind Lance Lynn’s seven scoreless innings.

In August, Los Angeles improved to 15-1.

The Dodgers starters allowed just two runs in 18 innings of work during the three-game series against the Brewers. During the three-game series, L.A.’s pitching staff held the Brewers to three runs. The Dodgers have held their opponents to two or fewer runs seven times in their last eight games.

The Dodgers were kept scoreless for the majority of the night by former National League Cy Young Award winner Corbin Burnes. The Dodgers, who were without J.D. Martinez due to a reoccurring groin issue, failed to score in seven innings against Burnes.

But they got the timely hitting they needed in the ninth. Austin Barnes, who has been working hard at the plate all season, hit his first solo home run of the season off Joel Payamps. That was all the Dodgers needed, given their recent pitching performance.
