Bernardo Silva ‘makes decision’ on Barcelona move and more Man City transfer rumours.
Bernardo Silva is reportedly set to reject a move to Barcelona and will instead commit his future to Manchester City.
Despite their financial difficulties, the Spanish giants have been pursuing the midfielder all summer. City are said to value the Portugal international at £84 million, which put Barcelona off.
Pep Guardiola is determined not to lose the 28-year-old player with whom he has won four Premier League titles. He had a productive season last season, particularly in the first half, when he scored eight goals before Christmas.
The Athletic claims Silva is ready to knuckle down again at the Etihad after being made aware of Barcelona’s interest, which by all accounts tempted him. It goes on to say that a move to Spain is unlikely to happen this season, despite his earlier request that the club allow him to leave if a suitable offer came in.
Meanwhile, the Daily Mail reports that City right-back Issa Kabore has joined Marseille on loan with a £17 million option to buy. The Blues signed the 21-year-old in 2020, but he has yet to make the first team.
He enjoyed a progressive loan spell at French club Troyes last season, recording two assists in 32 appearances. Kabore links up with the likes of former Manchester United attacker Alexis Sanchez and former Gunners midfielder Matteo Guendouzi at Marseille for the upcoming term.
Manchester City keen on Everton’s Anthony Gordon
Pep Guardiola is reportedly a big fan of Everton winger Anthony Gordon and the 21-year-old could be an excellent addition at Manchester City.
According to The Times, Guardiola is a big fan of the Toffees winger, who has piqued the interest of Chelsea after breaking onto the scene last season.
According to the report, Everton turned down a £45 million bid from Thomas Tuchel’s side for the academy graduate, but a £50 million bid could be enough to convince them to sell the England U’21 international this summer.
As a result, if Guardiola is interested in bringing in the youngster, he may need to act quickly or risk losing out on another player to the Blues, having already seen Marc Cucurella prefer a move to London over a move to Manchester this summer.
With the above report in mind, it is evident that the Man City boss would love to add the Evertonian to his side.
City have already sold Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus this summer, with only Julian Alvarez arriving as an option on the wing, so you could argue that Guardiola could do with some extra depth out wide.
Riyad Mahrez will also turn 32 this season, so Gordon could be a perfect long-term heir to the Algerian out wide if he is moved on in the next couple of seasons.
Last season saw Gordon make 35 appearances in the Premier League for Frank Lampard’s side, in which he contributed four goals and two assists, averaging a solid 6.70 rating from WhoScored for his performances.
