The Telegraph claim Manchester City are keeping an eye on Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Even though the Telegraph alleges he was at fault for one of Leeds United’s goals on Saturday, the report claims Manchester City is keeping an eye on Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri as they search for a left-back.
It’s a rather pejorative summary. Ait-Nouri appeared to be debating Leeds’ victory as he unsuccessfully attempted to thwart Brenden Aaronson from scoring a tap-in. Despite the fact that Aaronson continues to claim credit for the goal, he unintentionally put the ball in his own net.
But Manchester City are interested in the Frenchman. Before his transfer to Wolves became permanent last summer, the left-back first arrived there on loan from Angers in 2020. Given that he is only 21 years old, he has already completed 52 senior outings.
The ball is unquestionably in Wolves’ court as they will be eager to retain him as another of Jorge Mendes’ clients. He still has four years left on his £33,000-per-week contract, and according to earlier rumours, Wolves values him at a staggering £45 million.
Before Chelsea beat Manchester City to the signing of Marc Cucurella from Brighton, they were also interested in Ait-Nouri. Sergio Gomez, a defender for Anderlecht, is likely to be acquired by Manchester City but promptly loaned out.
Ait-Nouri would be a fantastic addition. He may not yet be on the same level as Cucurella, but he can undoubtedly get there. Indeed, he would cost about £15 million less and is three years younger than Cucurella.
He might not start at first, but with Guardiola’s guidance, there is no question he could eventually replace the injured left-back for Manchester City. Additionally, he would give Manchester City a set-piece option.
With the transfer window closing in less than three weeks, they will need to move quickly. Stefan Ortega, Kalvin Phillips, and Erling Haaland have already been hired. Julian Alvarez has made his way back from a loan.
Manchester City now want to sign 24-year-old Brazilian
Just a few weeks after Newcastle United made an offer for the left-back from Atletico Madrid, Manchester City is again interested in him.
The Telegraph reports that Man City have compiled a list of potential recruits to provide Joao Cancelo the much-needed backup he needs.
Lodi was apparently the subject of interest from Newcastle at the beginning of the transfer window, and the Magpies reportedly made a £21 million offer for the left-back.
However, the transaction never happened, and Matt Targett’s loan from Aston Villa was converted to a permanent transfer.
The English full-back started Newcastle’s season-opening victory over Nottingham Forest while maintaining a clean sheet for Eddie Howe’s team.
It’s a credit to Newcastle’s ambition this summer that they’ve not only been linked to the same player as Premier League champions Man City, but identified the 24-year-old as a potential target first.
While the deal between Lodi and Howe’s side hasn’t happened yet, Newcastle are still keen to add to their ranks before the transfer window closes.
According to the most recent rumours, Newcastle might attempt to sabotage West Ham’s acquisition of intriguing Croatian defender Borna Sosa.
The 24-year-old Stuttgart defender is one of the continent’s best offensive full-backs.
In his 66 Bundesliga games to date, he has contributed 19 assists, earning him six Croatian caps.
Newcastle may have a hard time persuading Lodi to choose them over the English champions even if they decide to make another move for the Brazilian.
