Sofyan Amrabat is a player who Manchester United is interested in signing, but they will need to generate funds in order to do so.
Following his excellent performances for Morocco in the 2022 World Cup, which helped them become the first African country to get to the semi-final round, Amrabat has gained notice throughout Europe.
The midfielder from Fiorentina would set the Red Devils back £30 million, and Erik ten Hag is eager to bolster his team’s midfield.
Any of their departures from Old Trafford this summer, including those of Fred, Scott McTominay, and Donny van de Beek, might aid United in their pursuit of the 26-year-old. Manchester United’s top need is a striker, and they are hoping to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta before the Premier League season begins.
Red Devils made an initial verbal offer of £42.8 million plus a further £8.5 million in add-ons, but Serie A club want around £60 million for the Danish international. Hojlund is apparently also attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain, while Randal Kolo Muani is another possible choice for the Red Devils.
Amrabat’s pursuit can be postponed until later in the transfer window due to the need for a striker.
They might be able to raise money by selling one of their current midfielders. Brazilian international Fred is apparently a target for Galatasaray, while the two teams are reportedly still negotiating a fee.
West Ham, who are trying to add a midfielder after selling Declan Rice to Arsenal for £105 million, have been linked to McTominay.
Van de Beek, on the other hand, has acknowledged that in order to play regularly for the first team, he may have to leave Old Trafford.
