‘My Guardian Angel’

Tristan Thompson Pays Loving Tribute to His Mom: ‘My Guardian Angel’

Tristan Thompson is remembering his mother.

“Dearest mum in heaven, it’s been a month since you died. I can’t believe it,” Thompson said in a long caption next to a number of photos of his mother, including one with his three brothers and ex-girlfriend Khloé Kardashian.

“I’m in the worst part of my sadness and grief,” the athlete said next. “My heart is empty as I come to terms with the fαct that my biggest fan and hero has died. I can’t thank you enough for always being a woman of faith, a fighter for God, and fιghting back against whatever the world threw at us.

Thompson went on to thank his mom for “picking me as your son” and talk about how she had “dedicated” her life to her four kids and the church.

“You were an amazing mom, a great example, my best friend, and the strongest person I know,” he wrote. “All I can say to my mom is that I’m sorry for the mistakes I’ve made in my life. I’m sorry for your shame and paιn.”

Thompson didn’t say what these decisions were about, but it was recently said that he had a child with Maralee Nichols while he was dating Khloé, with whom he has a 4-year-old daughter named True and a 6-month-old son named Mason.

“I know they say that time heals all wounds, but I don’t think this paιn will ever go away,” Thompson said at the end of the post. “We had so many moments, and I have more that I want to tell you. We’ll still share them, but now they will come from heaven.”

“When tears are falling down my face, all I can ask is that you stay my light. You are my guardian angel, Mommy, and I will always praise you. I love you mommy. I can’t wait to see you, and when I do, I’ll run up to you and give you the biggest hug and kiss.”

Shortly after Thompson posted his touching tribute, Khloé’s sister Kim Kardashian posted a white heart and dove emoji in the comments, and NBA star LeBron James also posted two brown heart emojis.

A source told PEOPLE that Khloé, Kim, and their mother Kris Jenner were there for Thompson at the funeral of his mother.
