For Liverpool’s Champions League trip to AC Milan, Arne Slot is able to use all but one of his players.
The only senior absence from Slot’s 23-man roster that the Reds will take to Italy is Harvey Elliott’s injury, which was announced on Monday.Elliott broke his foot during the most recent international break, putting him out of commission for many weeks. He won’t be able to play again until after the October international break.
Federico Chiesa, who was included in the traveling team, may make his Liverpool debut. The Italian was surprisingly missing from the Nottingham Forest squad, but he will be hoping to play his debut game at the San Siro for his new team. From his days at Juventus and Fiorentina, Chiesa had an outstanding record at the storied old stadium. In each of his four road games against Milan for Fiorentina, Chiesa either scored or assisted, totaling three assists and two goals. He scored twice for Juventus in his two games there, though.
Unsurprisingly, Slot almost confirmed that Chiesa won’t start in Italy when he spoke during his press conference on Monday.
“He is in our team selection (squad) for the first time, it would be a big surprise for everybody if he would start tomorrow,” Slot stated. “You shouldn’t anticipate that he will start, but he ought to arrive in a few minutes in case we require him. It’s too early for him to play 90 minutes, but he’s been training alone at Juventus for a while, so perhaps he can get some playing time in the next games.”Defenders: Andy Robertson, Conor Bradley, Jarell Quansah, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, and Kostas Tsimikas
Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberch, Tyler Morton, Curtis Jones, Alexis Mac Allister, and Dominik Szoboszlai are midfielders.
Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Federico Chiesa, Mohamed Salah, Cody Gakpo, and Diogo Jota are the forwards.
