Salah’s incredible goal in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Brighton propelled Liverpool to the top of the Premier League.
As the Reds look to win their first English championship since 2020, the 32-year-old’s ninth goal this season highlighted how valuable he is to the team.
Salah’s contract is set to expire at the conclusion of this season, so his long-term future is still up in the air.
Salah’s most recent social media post fueled further rumors that he might be ready to depart, and he will be eligible to negotiate with non-English clubs in January.
“This club belongs at the top of the standings. Nothing less. Every team wins games, but only one winner emerges victorious. We want that,” he commented on X 24 hours after Brighton was beaten by his striking curler.
“I appreciate your help last night. I will always remember what it feels like to score at Anfield, no matter what happens.
Salah, who is now paid an estimated £350,000 ($453,000) a week, stated during Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Manchester United earlier this season that the club had not yet gotten in touch with him regarding a new contract.
In September, he told Sky Sports, “To be fair, I was coming to the game, it could be the last time (playing at Old Trafford).”
However, neither Salah’s future nor the worries of supporters regarding defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, whose contracts expire at the end of this season, are a problem for Liverpool manager Arne Slot.
“The contract situation becomes a problem if players don’t perform as well as they are now,” he stated.
“All three of them are doing incredibly well right now. Discussions are still going on with the individuals Virgil claims he has to speak with, and that’s not me, as you are aware.”
