Player of the Month is awarded to Ryan Gravenberch

How Arne Slot would turn this team into his own was one of the main concerns coming into his debut season as head coach. The roster that Jürgen Klopp assembled is nearly complete; there wasn’t much movement in or out during the summer transfer window.

Despite moving to Merseyside the previous season, Ryan Gravenberch was never able to hold down a regular spot in Klopp’s squad. However, in the midfielder’s first few games of this season, Slot has shown a great deal of faith in him. The supporters of Anfield are aware of it. After putting up a few strong performances, Gravenberch was named the inaugural Player of the Month for the season. Luis Díaz, who also had a fantastic September, was beaten by him.

He was a major factor in their winning streak to begin the season and started all but one of their games last month.

When asked about the recognition, Gravenberch replied, “It’s really nice to win Player of the Month.” I’m also a little pleased of myself because it’s my first. It goes without saying that our squad and players are excellent. I think it’s difficult to select between Luis [Díaz] and me because he had four goals in September, but I want to thank the fans for choosing me.

Fortunately, there weren’t any lack of players deserving of praise to begin Slot’s era. As the season progresses, let’s hope that the Player of the Month battle doesn’t lose its intensity.
