Steve McManaman overlooks Man Utd as he names all clubs that can win title this season
According to Steve McManaman, the three teams that will be vying for the Premier League title the next season are Manchester City, Arsenal, and Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola led City to a historic Treble last season, and they have won five of the last six Premier League championships. The acquisitions of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber have greatly strengthened Arsenal’s roster, which finished just five points behind City.
Following the departures of Roberto Firmino, James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and the acquisitions of Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, Liverpool is undergoing its own makeover. Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are reportedly close to moving to Saudi Arabia, thus more transfers and arrivals are anticipated.
And while McManaman anticipates Liverpool to once again contend for the championship, he does not think teams like Manchester United and Chelsea will. The former Liverpool and Manchester City player told Betfred, “I think Liverpool can challenge.”
“If you think back to last season, they had a lot of injuries for a significant portion of the season, which was really frustrating. However, they closed the year off very well and in terrific form, so I don’t see why they can’t challenge. With Luis Dáz and Diogo Jota both returning from ιnjury and my expectation that Darwin Néz will get better, the attacking line should be significantly more fit the next season.
The major concern for Liverpool is keeping their key players healthy because their early-season injuries last year seriously hindered their ability to make a title bid. I see Liverpool challenging, and based on other clubs’ current transfer activity, one would anticipate Arsenal to do the same.Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, and Jurrien Timber were recruited, filling three roles that needed to be strengthened this summer. They also completed their work ahead of schedule. You don’t know what’s happened at Chelsea, and despite the hiring of Mauricio Pochettino, a fantastic manager, the constant churn of players entering and exiting the team must be disruptive.
Mason Mount has joined Manchester United, but everyone is waiting to see if they also pá´œrchase a striker and a goalie. We need to wait until the beginning of the season to see what all the clubs do in terms of transfers because right now we can only go off of what we see on the surface.
Liverpool has already added two midfielders, and Trent Alexander-Arnold is capable of playing there, so they might add a third right-back this summer. The two most reliable teams at the moment appear to be Manchester City and Arsenal. They are the two clubs who now have the least to say.
