Real Madrid declares ‘steel move’ with Mbappe

Spanish media say Real Madrid has no intention of signing Kylian Mbappe this summer.

AS reveɑled “Los Blancos” did not change its opinion on the Mbappe deal. The French player is still the name Real is targeting for the future striker position. However, the Bernabeu team will wait until Mbappe’s contract with PSG expires (June 2024) and recruit him on a free basis.

Real Madrid do not want to pay a transfer fee for Mbappe.

On May 24, Le Parisien said Mbappe refused to commit to his future if PSG did not make positive moves in the transfer market this summer. PSG set an extension to Mbappe until June 2025 if the two sides reach an agreement. The deadline for this provision to be activated is July 31, 2023. But currently, Mbappe has not shown any signs of being ready to stay at PSG.

Mbappe will be free to negotiate contracts with other clubs in January 2024, although PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi will continue to try to convince him to renew his contract. L’Equipe believes Mbappe is deliberately letting his contract drift to the end in order to put pressure on the PSG leadership.

Real Madrid many times tried to recruit Mbappe but received a shake of the head from the French striker and PSG. During the signing ceremony of a new contract with the Paris capital club in May 2022, Mbappe said: “I want to thank Real Madrid and President Florentino Perez. I appreciate the opportunity that people give, but they will probably be disappointed.”.

“Poor Mbappe, he will regret it,” Real president Florentino Perez said in June 2022 while signing autographs for a fan on the street. Previously, this fan asked the Real president not to waste time and energy to recruit Mbappe.

In addition to Mbappe, Real are also targeting Man City striker Erling Haaland to replace Karim Benzema in the future.
