According to the Daily Mail, Real Madrid has put Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson on the list of candidates to renew this corridor in the summer of 2023.
According to the Spanish press, Real Madrid is very interested in the service of Andy Robertson to replace Ferland Mendy. The French player has not shown much in the “White Vulture” shirt and is expected to leave as soon as this season ends.
Since joining the Santiago Bernabeu team in 2019 from Lyon for £ 42 million, Ferland Mendy has often missed important matches due to injury. As in this season, coach Carlo Ancelotti had to pull Eduardo Camavinga from the central midfield position to replace Mendy. Fortunately for Real, Camavinga played well, but it was not a long-term solution.
The contract between Mendy and Real Madrid is still valid for 2 years. The Royal Spanish team wants to push the 27-year-old defender and earn about 40 million pounds. The above amount is also the expected expenditure for Andy Robertson’s case. However, the chance for Real Madrid to successfully recruit the Scottish defender is not high.
The former Hull City player is still coach Jurgen Klopp’s number one choice for the left-back position. Robertson is the few players who have played consistently during Liverpool’s volatile season. Robertson has been wearing “The Kop” since the summer of 2017.
Since then, the 29-year-old has won the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. His contract with Liverpool is still valid until 2026 and Real’s £ 40m cannot convince the partner to let go.
In addition to Robertson, Real also target Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich. However, Davies still has a contract with Bayern until 2025 and the club does not want to sell the Canadian star. They’re considering an extension with Davies.
