The representative for Mariano speaks out on the possibility of leaving Real Madrid
Contrary to rumors, Celta Vigo has not made any bids, according to David Aranda, the agent of Real Madrid center-forward Mariano Diaz, who spoke exclusively to Defensa Central.
Mariano’s second season at Real Madrid has not quite gone as planned. The striker, who was acquired from Olympique Lyon in 2018, has struggled to break into the Santiago Bernabeu first squad and has been advised that Carlo Ancelotti’s future plans do not include him.
This summer, Mariano was declared available for transfer, but the 29-year-old is proving to be hard to get rid of since he won’t decrease his pay demands. It caused a potential relocation to Turkey to fall through. However, a number of La Liga teams, including Celta Vigo, are still interested in the attacker.
Even more recent sources claimed that the Galician business had been in touch with Mariano’s team and presented a contract proposition. However, his representative promptly moved to refute such claims, saying that no one had gotten in touch with him regarding the striker. “I haven’t heard from anyone. No news exists, he informed Defensa Central.
Real Madrid is having trouble with Mariano’s condition. Karim Benzema is the definitive No. 9 at the Santiago Bernabeu, thus the 29-year-old has little chance of playing. Selling the former, though, would leave Los Blancos without a center-forward replacement for the French player.
To make room for a new No. 9 before the transfer window shuts, the Merengues have already sold Borja Mayoral to Getafe and want to do the same with Mariano. His pay, though, is proving to be a significant roadblock in any agreement thus far.
Mariano’s Real Madrid contract will end on June 30, 2023, less than a year from now. Since he may leave the club for free when his contract expires next summer, this transfer window marks Los Blancos’ final chance to obtain a respectable price for the striker.
