Liverpool is considering a late bid to acquire Juventus forward Federico Chiesa this week after admiring him.
Currently, there has been no progress, but the Reds are aware of Chiesa’s availability and are considering making a move to bring him to England. The Italian is reportedly interested in a transfer to Liverpool.
The club has been tight-lipped on transfers as the deadline looms, despite new manager Arne Slot’s winning start to the Premier League.
After settling on goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, Liverpool are now mulling over a number of potential next steps.
Slot is willing to bolster his defense even though he has a roster full of talented players to pick from, like Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Cody Gakpo, and Darwin Nunez. With only a year remaining on his contract, the 26-year-old may not be able to get a very high price.
He was reportedly involved in transfer talks with Barcelona following his exclusion from Juventus’ team for the last three preseason games earlier this month.
After spending the prior two seasons on loan at Fiorentina, Chiesa joined the Old Lady in the summer of 2022 for a little over £40 million.
Last season, he appeared in 37 games for Italy and contributed to their elimination from the Euro 2024 tournament in the round of 16. He scored ten goals and had three assists.
Chiesa is poised to move on in the coming days after being one of several first-team players frozen out by Motta.
We have guys who are good and have played frequently.
“The club is doing its best to help them figure it out, but they, too, need to figure it out quickly for the sake of everyone involved.”
