After Florida mansion, Shaq’s Orlando Mansion Is Back on the Market for $16.5 Million After a Few Tweaks to the Interiors
The house Shaquille O’Neal used to live in in Orlando, Florida, is back on the market.
In February, the Orlando Business Journal said that a deal to sell the property did not go through. Now that it has a new agent, Benjamin Hillman of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, the price of the 31,000-square-foot house has been lowered and a few changes have been made to the inside.
The house at 9927 Giffin Court has 12 bedrooms and has been on and off the market for years. It is now for sale for $16.5 million. This is $3 million less than what was asked for a year ago. It’s also over $10 million cheaper than what it was listed for in 2018 at $28 million. Hillman cut the price, but he also came up with a new way to sell the house: he took Shaq out of it.
He talked to Realtor.com about the changes he made to the house before putting it on the market.
Hillman told the outlet, “I’ve been watching this house for three years, and all the agents went down the same path of Shaq, Shaq, Shaq.” “But I don’t want him to be a part of it. “I asked for all of Shaq’s things that could be moved to be moved,” he said. In particular, his plan is to “highlight the amenities, the location, and the lakefront so I can educate a new buyer who doesn’t just want to buy Shaq’s house but wants to buy a nice house in an exclusive community.”
When Shaq bought the house in 1993, he put the letter “S” in a number of places, including the main bedroom. The house also had other things that reminded people of his all-star success.
After taking these things away, Hillman kept making changes to the style. Light fixtures were changed, walls were painted, 11 rooms were re-staged, and some furniture was replaced with newer pieces. He told Realtor.com that he has already had offers on the house. “It’s hσt,” he said about the number of people who were interested. The domain for livelikeshaq.com, where the old listing was, has been taken down. If you want to see more photos of the new 9927 Giffin Court, you can look at the new ad here.
