Spanish media rеvеаlеd the crаzy clause in the contract between Dembele and Barca

The Catalan giants have kept the French star for two more seasons, but the way for them to do that is not everyone dares.

The Catalan giants have kept the French star for two more seasons, but the way for them to do that is not everyone dares.

At the end of the 2021/22 season, Ousmane Dembele and Barcelona tried to find common ground on a new agreement but failed. As a result, this winger had to “wrap a loofah” to leave Catalunya after the term of the old contract ended after June 30.

However, thanks to the influence of coach Xavi Hernandez, Dembele and Barcelona finally agreed a new contract, just 10 days after he became a free agent. Thereby extending the time the French star wears the Spotify Camp Nou home team (the new name of the Camp Nou stadium since the 2022/23) season to 2024.

The details of this contract were not disclosed by the parties, but the Spanish newspaper SPORT somehow got hold of some of the terms of the contract. Notably, Dembele is expected to pocket a huge amount of money thanks to staying with Barcelona for two more seasons.

Specifically, according to the above source, Dembele will receive £ 14 million in salary for each of the 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons. Besides, the former young Borussia Dortmund star also has the opportunity to receive an additional £ 3 million if the attached conditions are met. All in all, the French winger can earn a total of £17m per season, or £34m in two years at Barcelona.

Even more crazy, according to SPORT, any team that activates Dembele’s release clause will receive 50% of that fee . The contract of the player born in 1997 has a release fee according to Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany of 100 million euros. However, some media believe that this figure is only around 50 million euros.

Joining Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund in a record deal in 2017, Ousmane Dembele was then one of the brightest young talents in the world. Recruiting Dembele, the Board of Directors of course hope this player can make Cules ease the nostalgia for Neymar, who also moved to Paris Saint-Germain the same year.

However, Dembele did not appear to be “feng shui” with the Camp Nou yard when he was constantly injured, making his contributions extremely small. Before his impressive performance under captain Xavi, Dembele was soon considered Barcelona’s bomb of the century and no one believed he was still in Catalunya after the 2021/22 campaign ended.
