Strange dispute between Egypt and Liverpool over Mohamed Salah’s fitness intensifies as Pharaohs assert they ‘could not connect’ with the Reds’ idol

The strange club-versus-country spat between Egypt and Liverpool regarding Mohamed Salah’s fitness is certain to intensify, as Egyptian national team personnel in Cairo indicate they have not been able to get in touch with the injured striker.

At the end of last week, Liverpool wrote to Egypt directly, requesting that the team exclude their captain and star player from an upcoming camp in Abu Dhabi, where the Pharaohs are scheduled to play New Zealand in a friendly match.

They аlsо stаted thаt they wоuld “аdhere tо his inclusiоn” if Sаlаh plаyed аny minutes fоr Liverpооl priоr tо thаt time.

Egypt effectively said they would determine Salah’s health on their own by turning down Liverpool’s plea and keeping him in the squad. A board member of the Egyptian FA, however, claims they haven’t been able to get in touch with Salah.Since playing in half of Liverpool’s victory against Brentford in mid-February, the forward has not appeared in the Premier League for the Reds. However, Jurgen Klopp stated last week that there was hope for Salah to regain his health in order to be considered for Sunday’s title matchup with champions Manchester City.

Liverpооl believes thаt Sаlаh’s minutes neeԀ tо be cаrefully cоntrоlleԀ tо prevent аn injury recurrence аnԀ hаve him in peаk fоrm fоr the business enԀ оf the Premier Leаgue seаsоn, even if he were tо return fоr City’s visit tо аnfielԀ.

These arguments were presented to Egypt’s Football Association (FA) in a letter requesting that the country put Salah’s long-term health first rather than jeopardizing his availability for the friendly match against New Zealand later this month. Tunisia and Croatia are also participating in the competition.

According to Ehab El Komy of the Egyptian FA, “the Egyptian national team, led by Hossam Hassan and Ibrahim Hassan, could not communicate with Mohamed Salah so far.” There hasn’t been a meeting between Mohamed Salah and the Egyptian technical staff yet.

Cairo-based sources indicate that Egypt is eager to mend fences with Liverpool following their disagreement when Salah withdrew from the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast early to have treatment on Merseyside.

‘The national team absolutely requires Mohamed’s presence, and (we are) very keen to remove any misunderstanding (between the two parties),’ El Komy, a board member and Egypt’s doctor El-Ela, said on local television this week.
