The Braves, led by Orlando Arcia, defeat the Pirates

August 9 – Kevin Pillar and Orlando Arcia drove in three runs in the ninth inning to lift the Atlanta Braves to an 8-6 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Matt Olson walked and advanced to third on Travis d’Arnaud’s double as Atlanta trailed entering the ninth. On Marcell Ozuna’s fielder’s choice, Olson was out in a rundown. Pillar’s left-field single scored Nicky Lopez, who pinch-ran for d’Arnaud, and Arcia’s left-field double made it 8-6.

Ronald Acuna Jr., the Braves’ standout right fielder, left the game in the sixth inning after being hit on the left elbow by a pitch. X-rays revealed no break, according to the team.

Acuna and Arcia each homered, and d’Arnaud added a two-run double to help the Braves stop a three-game losing slide. Arcia went 3-for-5 with three RBI.
