Liverpool are looking to sign a new midfielder having seen Thiago Alcantara be dealt a lengthy spell on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring against Fulham last week.
While Jurgen Klopp has stated publicly that Liverpool will not make any further signings this summer, the Reds appear to be making moves in the market.
A slew of injuries has left Klopp’s squad looking shaky in some areas, with Joel Matip the most recent casualty. Following Thiago Alcantara’s injury against Fulham, the midfield appears to be in need of reinforcements.
Jude Bellingham is their top target for that position, but he won’t be available until next summer, as Klopp seeks a short-term solution. Mirror Football has compiled a list of the most recent Liverpool transfer rumors.
Liverpool are reportedly tracking Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic, whose future at the San Siro is far from certain. Brozovic is one of the names on their shortlist as they look to add a midfielder.
According to Fichajes, Liverpool are ready to ‘put an offer on the table’ for the Croatian, with the move to be launched in the final days of the window. Inter are said to be hoping to bring in ‘important cash’ for Brozovic, who only recently signed a new contract.
The Reds are said to be preparing to hand Brozovic a two-year deal to move to Anfield. though they are facing competition from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, with his future set to be decided in the final hours of the summer.
Henderson hails Carvalho move
Jordan Henderson has hailed the addition of Fabio Carvalho, having seen the 19-year-old join from Fulham this summer.
Carvalho made his debut off the bench against the Cottagers last week and he has been delighting Henderson. The Reds skipper told talkSPORT: “I can see why he stood out at Fulham. He’s quality, he’s come in and settled really well. He looks at home, to be honest. He’s really good technically and he’s a great lad.
“You can see how much he wants to be a player and wants to improve, he’ll be a big addition this season. Not only this season, in the future going forward (too). Hopefully he can hit the ground running and make a big impact for us this season.”
Klopp involved in Sucic battle
Liverpool are reportedly one of the clubs in the race to sign Red Bull Salzburg star Luka Sucic. The midfielder impressed in Salzburg’s win over the Reds in pre-season, catching Jurgen Klopp’s eye with his performance.
According to Salzburger Nachrichten, Sucic has now emerged as a target as Klopp looks to boost his midfield options. Sucic is considered to be the next big talent to be sold by Salzburg, though he is not expected to leave until next summer.
Klopp is said to see the Croatian as a long-term replacement for some of his aging midfielders. But the Reds will have to beat AC Milan and Juventus to his signature, with both Serie A sides also in the hunt.
