Liverpool’s summertime attempt to replace Salah confirmed

With no assurances that Mohamed Salah will stick around past the end of the current campaign, Liverpool is still looking for a replacement.

Federico Chiesa was acquired by the Reds on a cut-rate contract during the summer transfer window. It’s unclear if the Italian international can eventually replace Salah because his playing time has been restricted thus far this season owing to fitness and injury concerns.

A handful of younger talents have the potential to develop into elite players within the next five years, but not many players are currently producing at the level needed to fully replace the Egyptian.

Rio Ngumoha’s signing demonstrates Liverpool’s strategy of gaining an advantage over their Premier League competitors by bringing in some of the best young players before they become household names.

It’s now official that Liverpool made a bid for one of the young players before the transfer market closed, who were connected to other players during the summer.

Rumors of a €10 million bid from the Reds involving Dario Osorio, the 20-year-old Chilean international who won the Danish league following his debut season with Midtjylland, have been verified by Danish newspaper Tipsbladet.

The study claims that Liverpool offered Osorio to Midtjylland, but that offer was turned down because “the amount and the offer did not give rise to further thought” at the time.

The Danes “have no interest whatsoever in selling [Osorio] for anything other than a record amount.”

Transfer of recordsThe highest transfer for a player out of the Superliga currently stands at €25 million for Ernest Nuamah in 2023, so if Liverpool wants to reapply for Osorio, they will have to raise their offer considerably.

After playing in nine more Championship round games, he added three goals and two assists to his five goals from the season’s 14 regular Superliga games. Midtjylland emerged victorious.

With just one goal and one assist in eleven games so far this season, his performance has been less stellar.

Playing as a left-footed right winger, Osorio meets Liverpool’s requirements for an attacker and may eventually be developed as Salah’s long-term replacement in the Reds’ assault.

The article claims that AC Milan attempted to convince the young Chilean to make a move before Midtjylland was able to purchase him before the August 2023 transfer deadline, and several other larger clubs were also interested.

Osorio was also on Liverpool’s list at the time, and teams like West Ham, Brighton, FC Porto, Napoli, and even Real Madrid looked at him.
