In the aftermath of Sunday’s 2-0 victory over Brentford, Trent Alexander-Arnold has posted on social media. In Arne Slot’s first competitive game as Reds manager, goals from Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz gave Liverpool the victory at Anfield.
Even though they won, Alexander-Arnold didn’t seem delighted about being replaced against the Bees. Slot talked to the defender in the dugout after being substituted with 18 minutes left, and the England international continued to appear unimpressed until the final whistle blew.
After the game, Slot spoke to reporters to clarify his decision to bench Alexander-Arnold and put an end to rumors of a falling out with the Liverpool vice captain, who is not under contract until next summer.Yes, I do. I don’t think the players who were on the bench from the beginning were really pleased with the decision I made, even though every player wants to play 90 minutes,” he remarked.
After returning from the European Championships with England’s national team, Trent played heavily in the early going but soon faded into the background. He returned after taking a short break.
We need him for the entire season, not just the first two games, so we have to take care of him even if this is only his third game.
Conor (Bradley) is a great backup for me, which is a huge plus. Trent is in our care, but he had a solid game.In his Instagram post after Liverpool’s win over Brentford, Alexander-Arnold thanked the club’s fans.
“First win at home,” the defender posted with images of himself leaving the field, cheering on fans, and taking a corner. As usual, the fans were absolutely amazing.
Additionally, Alexander-Arnold would update his Instagram story with a photo of himself beaming as he passed through the entrance to the dressing room upon arriving at Anfield.
In Liverpool’s first-day win at Ipswich Town, the defender was also substituted. Slot brought on Conor Bradley for the right-back in the 77th minute.
Next Sunday, in the last match before the international break in September, the Reds will play away to Manchester United.
