UEFA announces Top 3 best players: Identifying the toughest opponent for Benzema

The top three contenders for the 2021–2022 UEFA Men's Player of the Year award have been made public.

The candidates for the Men’s Player of the Year award have been revealed by UEFA. Karim Benzema (Real Madrid), Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid), and Kevin De Bruyne (Middlesbrough) are the three players that have been shortlisted for the award of best player in UEFA tournaments (Man City). Benzema is the best candidate. He played sublime, bringing Real to win the Champions League, La Liga and the European Super Cup. The French striker is also considered unrivalled in the race to win the Ballon d’Or this year. With the award for the best coach, Ancelotti stands out more than his two colleagues because Real has a successful season in both domestic and European countries.


UEFA announced the Top 3 and the scores of the remaining Top 15 players in addition to revealing the Top 3. Players like Lewandowski (54 points), Luka Modric (51 points), and Sadio are accordingly included on this ranking. Mane (51 points), Mohamed Salah (46 points), Kylian Mbappe (25 points), Virgil van Dijk (19 points), Bernardo Silva (7 points), Filip Kostic (7 points), Lorenzo Pellegrini (5 points), Trent Alexander-Arnold (2 points), and Fabinho are the top scorers (1 point).


On August 25, the draw for the group stage of the Champions League, Europa League, and Europa Conference League seasons 2022–23 will take place. The results of the top three players (De Bruyne, Benzema, and Courtois) will be revealed. 


Coach of the Year is another noteworthy category. Three coaches are up for this honor: Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid, Pep Guardiola of Manchester City, and Jurgen Klopp of Liverpool.


It is expected that Karim Benzema and Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti will receive these coveted UEFA honors following their outstanding performances in the 2021/22 season, which culminated in the UEFA Champions League.

Jorginho is the holder of the “Best Player” award for the 2020/21 season. Meanwhile, Ronaldo has won this award three times (2013/14, 2015/16 and 2016/17), the most ever.
