Usain Bolt, the fastest man on earth and Olympics legend, has been named as an ambassador for the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup.
Usain Bolt, the legendary sprinter, has been named the official ambassador for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, co-hosted by the West Indies and the United States taking pace from June 1 to 29. The fastest man alive, Bolt’s passion for cricket and global appeal promise to ignite the tournament and propel the sport into new territories.
Bolt’s narrative is already well-known to cricket fans. Beyond the realm of sports, the legendary Jamaican has made history by pulling off an unheard-of “Triple-Triple”—winning three gold medals at three different Olympic Games in a row from 2008 to 2016. His adventure started in 2008 when he stunned everyone by winning the 100-, 200-, and 4×100-meter relays in world records. With world records in all three events—9.58 seconds for the 100-meter sprint, 19.19 seconds for the 200-meter sprint, and 36.84 seconds for the 4×100-meter relay—Bolt continues to be the unchallenged speed king.

Bolt’s function extends beyond his title. He will be the main driver behind the event’s promotion. The official anthem’s music video, which drops next week, features him making a cameo alongside major players in the Caribbean music scene like Sean Paul and Kes. That’s not all, though. Bolt will likely be seen supporting the Windies at important games and taking part in fan-engagement activities, especially in the USA where cricket is about to take a big step forward.
“Cricket has always held a special place in my heart, coming from the Caribbean where it’s a way of life,” Bolt enthusiastically stated. While cheering for his native country, the West Indies in the World Cup, he is keen to assist cricket’s global expansion, saying, “Getting the sport into the US is big for cricket.”
In the sports industry, the United States is the largest unexplored market. Bolt believes that cricket’s admission in the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles will be sparked by the T20 World Cup. He envisions “dancing, music, and high energy” during the Caribbean matches, believing the event will be a turning point for the USA as a major cricket hub.
Bolt said, excited at the possibilities, “America believes a lot in sport and high intensity.” “When they follow a sport, they go all in, and I feel like if they can crack into it, they will get into it the right way.”
There is no finer ambassador than the one the ICC has. “Usain Bolt is a global icon,” said Geoff Allardice, CEO of ICC. “He’s a well-known cricket enthusiast, which makes him ideal for this position. In addition to his extraordinary accomplishments and upbeat demeanor, he will bring something extra thrilling to the World Cup.”
The T20 World Cup in 2024 looks to be an exciting event with Bolt participating. His star power will not only amplify the excitement for fans worldwide but also propel cricket into a new era, particularly in the USA.
