Vinicius Jr. is eager to add to Real Madrid's four Champions League titles in the last nine seasons.
Vinicius Jr., a forward for Real Madrid, wants to win “five or six” Champions League titles in addition to the UEFA Super Cup.
Last season, the 22-year-old scored the club’s fourth goal in nine seasons in the Champions League final against Liverpool, although it was his first since joining the team from Flamengo in 2018.
In their Super Cup match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday, Madrid will have the chance to collect more accolades. Vinicius is eager for a victory in Helsinki but has big goals for the Spanish giants in the future.
He said on the official UEFA website: “It is absolutely vital to strive to win as many games as you can, especially if you want to win championships as prestigious as the UEFA Super Cup.
“We will exert every effort to take home the season’s opening trophy.
“I hold up the players who have excelled at this club and the largest club in the world as role models.
“Of course, I want to keep winning here and play for a long time to win as much as them – to win five or six [Champions Leagues] – and to try to be as influential as some of the best Real Madrid players to have worn the shirt,” he said.
Vinicius acknowledged that Madrid’s recent season’s path to the final was a “emotional rollercoaster,” as late goals in matches against Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea, and Manchester City prevented an exit.
I think it was a little bit of everything, but that’s just in the DNA of this club and this shirt, always showing up in crucial matches, guys who understand how to approach games in this tournament, he added.
“Some of the games were roller coaster rides of emotions, and everything appeared to go our way.
My favorite time period? the match at the Bernabeu versus [Manchester] City. We advanced to the final thanks to two goals from Rodrygo in only two minutes of play.
“The City game, in my opinion, was the most crucial point of the competition.”
